Device Description

iAISTX is designed specifically for the growing number of boaters who use an iPad or Android tablet for their navigation tasks. As a full-featured Class B transponder, it sends your boat position and identity data to other AIS-equipped vessels. In addition, this AIS transponder with WiFi provides a wireless interface for mobile devices with popular apps to display data received from other AIS-equipped vessels.

iAISTX creates a secure, password-protected, local WiFi network that allows you to send AIS and GPS data to popular iOS and Android apps such as Navionics, iSailor, Weather4D, SailGrib, iNavX, TimeZero and more. These apps provide a detailed overlay of local AIS targets that updates in real time. Depending on the app, you can click on a target and see identity and collision avoidance data such as CPA (nearest point of approach) and TCPA (time to nearest point of approach).

AIS transponders require one-time programming with the boat's identity and physical dimensions. This is done via a simple, embedded web interface through the tablet's browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.). This also serves to silence the transmission and set up wireless parameters such as passwords. Installation is simple: just connect the power supply (12/24v) and mount the included external GPS antenna. Then connect them to a separate dedicated VHF antenna or to the boat's existing VHF antenna using our SPL1500 or SPL2000 AIS-VHF antenna splitters.

If you also want to bring AIS data to your MFD (chart plotter), we recommend the iAISTX Plus, which includes an additional NMEA 2000 interface.

Configuration

To simplify the use and configuration of our AIS transponders, our iAISTX has an integrated web interface. The configuration of the transponder can be done via a PC, tablet or smartphone and, most importantly, no software or app is therefore required.

You can configure the iAISTX via its own web interface (no internet connection is required). Just open your web browser (Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla, etc.) and enter the IP address of the iAISTX (which is always 192.168.1.1). You can set the vessel details (MMSI number, vessel name, etc.), WiFi network name and password, and even merge the AIS WiFi with an existing WiFi network on board. You can even stop the AIS transmission via the web interface.

Finally, the iAISTX supports TCP and UDP network protocols to ensure maximum compatibility with nautical apps.
