The WLN30 Smart from Digital Yacht is a NMEA 0183 WLAN multiplexer for integrating tablets and mobile devices into your navigation systems. This WiFi server allows apps and software to display and calculate information in real time. The WLN30 creates a secure, password-protected WiFi network on board.

The new WLN30 features three NMEA0183 inputs and one NMEA0183 output that you can program at 4800 or 38400 baud rates via its simple browser interface. The data received at the three inputs is mixed together. The data is then bundled and transmitted to all wireless devices that are connected to the WLN30's WiFi network. The same multiplex data is also available on the NMEA 0183 output. This allows the data from the app, e.g. next waypoint or autopilot data, to be forwarded to other NMEA 0183 devices.

For example, when you connect to an AIS system, real-time AIS targets and identity data are displayed on detailed electronic mapping. This is done using compatible apps such as NV Charts, TimeZero, Aqua Map, iAIS, iSailor, Seapilot, etc. This turns the tablet into a fully-fledged chartplotter.

The WLN30 can be configured via its own web interface. To do this, simply open your web browser. Then enter the IP address of the WLN30 and you can set the baud rates, multiplexing mode, network name, password and AP mode. No complicated programming software or app is required.

The WLN30 supports UDP (up to 7 devices simultaneously) and TCP/IP protocols for maximum compatibility with apps. This server is bidirectional, allowing certain apps and software to control the autopilot directly.

With the three NMEA0183 inputs, you can also use our SeaTalk to NMEA adapter to connect SeaTalk instrument data directly to the WLN30 or our iKonvert gateway to connect NMEA 2000 data.

Configuration

You can set up the WLN30 via its own web interface (no internet connection required). Simply open your web browser (Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla, etc.), enter the WLN30's IP address (which is always 192.168.1.1).

You can set the speed of the various NMEA 0183 inputs & outputs, the multiplex mode, the WiFi network name and password, and even merge the WLN30's WiFi with an existing WiFi network on board. So no complicated software or programming app is required.

You can even view the received NMEA 0183 data in the web interface to make troubleshooting easier. Finally, the WLN30 supports TCP and UDP network protocols for maximum compatibility with nautical chart apps
